Post Birthday

sigh . . .

Yesterday was my 44th birthday. All weekend Matt treated me like a queen. He took me up to Northampton to Webs, then into town, and later to took me to dinner at Apricots in Farmington.
Lat night he came home early from work and made me dinner! We had wine and watched Monty Python's Life of Brian and The Happening.

Now it's over. God, I love him!

So today I finished three little projects. These two slide mailers are for Swift Waters:

And this is on Etsy:

A True Miracle

I'd like to take a moment think about the miracle that happened yesterday on the Hudson. I was watching my beloved Fox News and it was reported that a plane crashed in the Hudson River. At first it was thought to be a small plane, but turns out it was an airliner with some 155+ people aboard. It's been so cold here in the northeast that I was so fearful that people would be in the frigid water swimming for safety. You can't last that long in that cold water! Then it appeared that everyone was going to be rescued. The ferries as well as rescue came out to take people off the plane. It must be said that it is a code of conduct for the water. If you are on your boat (or ferry) and you see someone in distress you must go help. I've seen it many times.

So kudos to the police, EMTs, fire departments, Coast Guard, the PILOT and CREW! the ferry operators and everyone else who went to the rescue yesterday. Thank God. Really.

And here I am whipping up more chenille scarves and trying to see what I can come up with for Valentine's Day and thinking of a way to display my neckwarmers at the store. I was thinking about using those cardboard cones that my yarn comes on. Hmmmm. Fun.

Two new items in the store:

That's a picture of my dad - high school graduation.

Here is the neckwarmer I made with mudcakes buttons.

Blackbird XIII

It was evening all afternoon.
It was snowing.
And it was going to snow.
The blackbird sat
In the cedar limbs.

-Wallace Stevens, "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird"

I want to take a nap. But I won't. I will be too cold to get up from under the blanket. Too tired to get up. And I will want to eat when I get up. Which makes no sense. Plus, I may be cranky after a nap.

Fuming

I'm mad at my husband and that's all I'm going to say about it. He's traveling now and he lost his head right before he left for the airport.

But today I am going to the co-op to drop off more things and pick up my check (hooray!). First I have to fix the fringe. Always fixing the fringe.

Here is a little eye candy, one of the recently scarves I posted on etsy

Seriously, the cat really threw up.

No pictures, sorry. But it could be a good excuse.

Sorry I'm late but the cat threw up.

Sorry your pie chart is not done: the cat threw up on my keyboard.

The cat threw up on my shoe.

The cat threw up on the monthly report then I threw up on the cat.

I am now following a weaving blog that has an interesting history:

http://weftywoman.blogspot.com/2009/01/crochet-and-knitting-are-not.html

Seriously, knitting and crocheting are not handweaving. I also hate when people blatantly confuse knitting and crocheting. I hate when people try to draw you into their fun fur world of crocheted scarves and try to make you look at them because they tagged their item crochet, fun fur, yarn, HANDWOVEN.

NOT. Stop!

When I see handwoven, I want it to have been made on a loom. Not near a loom. Not while you were thinking of a loom. Not while you were ordering your first loom online. Not when your cat puked on a loom while you were crocheting your fun fur scarf.

Now I am being a weaving Nazi.

Oh, well.

Hmmmm

Hmmm . . . I was going to blog but I just heard the cat throw up so I guess I won't.

Feel free to use that excuse to put something off if you ever need it.

Christmas is over

The tree is gone.

The decorations are packed away.

My husbands thoughts turn to

taxes.

Mine don't but I guess they will now. I have the daunting task of getting Schedule C stuff together for him. I should just reinvent the wheel. Or fire.

I'm doing it, I'm doing it.

I'm working at the store tomorrow and I have a bunch of things to take there. Neckwarmers and scarves. I also have to take photographs today. It's going to be a busy day.
