Signs of Spring

I've been working in the garden!

Left to right: The garden plot, broccoli, onions and chives (chives are from last year)

Lamb's Ear in the morning
I have a bunch of seeds starting indoors. I love going out into the garden each day to see what's going on. I hope the rabbits will stay away from my broccoli and brussels sprouts until they get bigger.
Brussels sprouts? Yes. They are so much better fresh off the stem. Whenever I make them my husband says, "Were you bad?" Obviously I only make them for myself.

Goodbye . . .

my little car. It died last summer (the transmission, actually) and I finally have someone picking it up today. It was a good little car!

I just posted this in the store:

Love that face! And now I really have to get working!

Say Yay For Spring!

It's spring!

It's spring!

I wanted to make some springtime necklaces this week. So, I gathered all my collage sheets, some stamps, glue, Exacto knife, various other doo-dads, and took them to the living room to work on in the evening.

I cut this out, I cut that out. I put this here, I put this there. I had stuff everywhere. Nothing clicked.

Tried it again the next evening.

Nothing.

Tried it again last night and thought, hm. And now for something completely different . . .

New For Spring

It doesn't feel very spring-like here today. Ok, ok, it's not spring yet, but we had some nice weather recently.

Anyway, I am soooo happy to list a new scarf for spring.

I was so excited to finish it. It was on the loom with two others and it just seemed to be on there FOREVER. So I finally cut it off and knotted the fringes while talking to my mom on the phone. Actually, she does most of the talking. I threw it in the washer and dryer and thought I would be ironing it before its photo shoot, but no! It came out all crinkly. It was awesome.

Yes, I am bragging.

I have the two others in a hemp bath and will be rinsing and washing them today. I'm so happy. I feel the flow of creative qi again!

Lovin' My New . . .

computer!

I have been THRUST into the 21st century! We got it on Saturday and words cannot express how cool it is!

Meanwhile, I have been productively whipping through fingerless gloves, as seen here:

These are knit from Connecticut-grown sheep, handspun and hand-dyed by me. They are very hardy, yet soft enough for your hands. You can even feel a bit of lanolin in them. They will be going to Swift Waters later in the week. They are quick to make while I'm hanging out with Matt after dinner.

Creative . . .

constipation.

Ugh. Sorry, but that's been my state of mind this week. I thought it was because I was sick last week and I had to get back into it. but upon reading through some of the posts on Etsy, I think I am not alone. At any rate, all the bottled up ideas are slowly coming out. Instead of wallowing in it, I am just ignoring it and plodding ahead.

I knit these up yesterday. Started them while I was working at Swift Waters.

Fingerless gloves knitted from yarn I spun and dyed, from Connecticut-grown sheep. Here are some more colors I have:

When I had a "real job" there was a guy I worked with who had a couple of sheep. He bought a house and the sheep came with it. So he kept them. He used to give me the wool. I have so much of it that I don't take it any more, but it was a good experience. I skirted it, cleaned all the hay bits, bugs, poop out of it, washed it and laid it out in the lawn to dry. It's Hampshire wool, so it's best for hard-wearing things. I never knew what to make with it. Then, I needed something to take to the store, so I grabbed it and I think it's working out well. I'm making something, therefore, adding some prune juice to my creative diet. These will go to Swift Waters, which has sold fingerless gloves in April.

I'm in Connecticut, after all.

Ssshhhh!

Isn't it strange that some of the loudest people in the library are the ones who work there?
