Friday Finds and a New One From Coffee Break Designs

Just listed in my shop yesterday is a runner. When selecting colors for this project, I pulled out a variety of cones and put them next to each other to see how they looked.

The result was a group of warm colors with names like champagne, coral, lipstick, and light rust.

The colors are warm, like summer, but so bright, like the changing leaves in autumn.

Now for some great finds.

I want this for my booth at the farmers market! Vintage Wood A-Treat Soda Crate Shelf or Display Case by Ingenuity In Display

Remember Our Soldiers. Also Some New Garden Stuff

Remember those who serve and those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy. Thank a soldier and a veteran.

Patriotism in truest form by Jrzy Girl Photography

My Big Poppy has finally bloomed. The two pictures above show the bud (very odd looking, isn't it?) and the flower this morning.

The first snow pea flower!

Lots of grapes on the grape vine.

My potatoes are getting bigger! You will all just have to deal with my fascination for growing these. I cannot explain it.

The two blueberry bushes - One loaded with berries and the other following behind with flowers. We will have to cover these with nets once they start ripening. The birds love them.

I'm hoping my mother will visit my blog soon. She's always loved gardening but is now limited to a container garden on her balcony.

Linen Tobacco Flower Cuff

I'm working on new things every day. Here is the latest, just posted on Etsy this morning.

A linen cuff with a simple flower. Linen Tobacco Flower Cuff
This weekend take a moment to remember all our soldiers who gave their lives to protect the freedoms we live by in this great country. If you see a soldier or veteran, shake their hand and thank them for their service. Whatever you think about the current state of affairs, know that they would die for our freedoms.
So, to you I say, Thank you and God bless you.

Juicy Tangerine

I love, love, love this color! It makes me think of juicy tangerines and oranges. Linen in tangerine. And the button is too cute. I'm pretty sure I picked it up at the Sheep and Wool Fest in Rhinebeck, but I don't remember when or the vendor (sorry!).

I'm revin' up my inventory for the Farmers Market and the co-op!

Cozy Cuff and A Warm Day - ahhh

Another cuff in the shop.

We had a frost warning last night so we covered the vegetable plants in the gardens with tarps and sheets. I don't think it got very cold, but I'm glad we did it. Here are some pictures of a few things around the yard.

Small pears on the trees!

Lots of plums, too. They look like tiny green olives.

My row of potatoes.

Potato plant close up. These are all Yukon Gold potatoes.

Another Treasury!

Such a good feeling! My Teal and Brown handwoven towels are in this Etsy treasury, up until tomorrow.

Thank you, Modern Needlepoint!

Ginger Fresh!

It's a new item in my Etsy shop!

Matt and I took a drive to some antique shops in Coventry yesterday. I was on my button quest. I found lots! Maybe 100 different buttons for about $9. Here are two sets on beautiful vintage cards:

Here are closeups of the cards.

Check out the little boy and his toy rabbit and the little girl and her dog. I love these!

And I bought this. I don't know if it's vintage. I doubt it and I don't care. I just think it's so appropriate that I have it:

It was cold yesterday. After we were done shopping we rented a couple of movies, Miracle at St. Anna and Seven Pounds. I cried at the end of Miracle and bawled my eyes out at Seven Pounds.

Coffee and Tobacco Friday

No, not smokes, but a new crocheted choker, East Windsor Linen Choker, I completed this morning. Again, in the tobacco/ginger color linen. It's such a great color, neutral but not blah.

It's also Coffee Friday with new coffee finds on Etsy. Check out these coffee-liscious selections:

I love retro stuff. This is Vintage Sunbeam Coffeemaster Coffee Filters from Jazzies Junque.

If I was single or had complete control over my domain, this is what I would put on my wall! It's Coffee in the Morning Wall Decal by Circle Line Studio.

I love the Eiffel Tower - with a cafe au lait! Eiffel Tower Coffee Break bracelet by Memai.

I Love Coffee Scrabble Tile pendant by Blue Finger Studios.

I love these! Little beans, too! Starbux Coffee Stitch Markers by Scary Merry.

Treasury on Etsy!

One of my handwoven towels is featured in a Treasury on Etsy. Thank you to Sley the Dent! This particular treasury is a tribute to handwoven towels. They are beautiful and as unique as the weavers but they are also meant to be used! They make great housewarming gifts, too.

Visit the treasury to see the other beautiful selections.

Crackle Weave

Two views of crackle weave on my loom. It's a dynamic weave design that enhances color combinations. Treadling is pattern weave, tabby weave, pattern weave, tabby weave, etc. The tabby, or plain weave is the simple over, under of each warp and weft.

This picture shows the simple plain weave I did for two inches at the beginning of the project. This will serve as the hem I will fold over and sew after I take the runner off the loom. But I like this look very much, so I am considering doing one runner solely in plain weave.

I'm also thinking about doing another crackle weave project using a solid warp but changing the weft colors. This would make a nice shawl, too.

Here is my latest purchase, vintage buttons, from Shane Lily Rain on Etsy:

I spent some time yesterday driving out to some antique stores yesterday only to find they are cloed on Mondays and Tuesday. I want to go out again today but I really need to get some work done today.

Newly Posted on Etsy yesterday . . .

And sold! Here's another picture:

It is crocheted of linen and decorated with various buttons. I was just playing around with a design for a second one, so now I really need to get busy!

Friday

I think the yard may be done, except for one little raspberry bush. Here is what we did:

McIntosh apple tree

Fuji apple tree

Raspberry bush 1

Relocated tree

Little Leyland, the Cypress

Not much crafting last weekend, but I am doing well this week. I hope to thread a new project on the loom and bead a crocheted necklace.

No pics of those yet. Where does the time go?

Here is a cute find for this Friday:
